With reference to your letter of the 24th Ultimo, requesting the Crown Agents to issue to W W & Thornton of Hong Kong half Salary from the 12 August last, I have the honor to transmit to you

the enclosed order

on W W Thornton Agent in Hong Kong, directing that

any

half Salaries they have received subsequent to the 1st August may be refunded to the Colonial Government
